	Here is a detail of a block, and the main fabric (the fabric is shown at a smaller scale). You will need approximately 6 yards of the main print, and 1/2-7/8 yds. of the various accent fabrics. I recommend bringing one yard each of three or more choices for the accent fabrics. Include at least one that light and one dark. It will be easier to decide on the placement after the main fabric is cut.
	This diagram shows the fabric placement. All the "A" pieces are cut from one main print. You will not need Fabric E or the border fabric during class, so you can wait to choose those. Click here for a larger view.
	Here is a possible fabric combination for this bird print. The accent fabrics are shown in order from left to right (B,C,D, E). Using the light mottled beige for Fabric D (which "reads" as the background), a medium tone for B (around the stars) and reserving the brightest fabric (rose) for the C triangles will make the overall effect light and airy.The blue fabric would be used at top and bottom, as in the sample quilt.
	Here is another approach for this light-ground print. In this case, Fabric D is the dark teal, which would set the blocks against a dark background. The blue fabric surrounds the stars, the light fabric would be the accent triangles,and the rose fabric would be used at the top and bottom. This would create a more dramatic, higher-contrast quilt than the previous example. Which is better? That just depends on your tastes! 8-)
